Believe it or not the original “attention_getter.gif” I obtained for this post was too raunchy. Needless to say this episode pushes up the fanservice beyond eleven. No, not eleven. Twelve maybe. This shit would make a hooker blush.
OVERLY SCREENCAP-HEAVY SUMMARY
Whoever said “a picture is worth a thousand words” wasn’t lying.
First, we learn about Araragi’s sisters and how they fight crime or do they? But most importantly they’re “fakes”. That’s important. I think. Either ways Araragi decides to go to Sengoku’s house for some hot coffee or something. After some extremely subtle conversation between the two, Sengoku leads Araragi to her room where upon entering he notes her very ordinary clo-
-set. That’s kinda suspicious and I guess a little ominous. After the whole closet scene, Nadeko… Well… It’s basically babby’s first seduction.

Araragi’s restraint would have made a eunuch proud. He soon humours Sengoku by playing a round of Game of Life with her. Soon he learns from her that his sisters have been acting somewhat strangely.
10 minutes and one Game of Life later…

But you wouldn’t have guessed that a conversation took place from the pictures. In the meantime, after crafting a fuckton of iron daggers to max his Smithing skill, Araragi receives a codec call from Kanbaru Suruga, the resident lesbian of the show.
Can you guess what happens next? Ah, who am I kidding, she gets naked of course.
On the way to Suruga’s house, Araragi fortuitously meets up with his sister Karen and confronts her about her intentions as well as expressing disappointment at her handstanding skills.

He gets nothing in the end.
Finally Araragi arrives at Suruga’s household and gets a face full of a- sense of melancholy from her.

Oh wait that’s from the trailer, sorry to get your hopes up. All you’ll get in this episode is a face full of BOOK.
After discussing the merits of yaoi, Suruga then proceeds to rape Araragi in an ironic fashion.
REVIEW
Overall I thought this episode was okay at best. SHAFT’s decision to dump a shit-ton of fanservice into what otherwise would have been a trite, dialogue-filled exposition slideshow was a good idea in my opinion but it couldn’t save it from being boring overall. In the end, it couldn’t be helped.
This is also the first episode that uses the Karen Bee OP for the upcoming arc. My reaction to it can be accurately summed up by that one scene from The Wicker Man. You know… that scene.
SCORE
Overall, boring, build-up episode with foreboding, SHAFT-style dialogue and fanservice is enough to keep your attention. I give this episode:
3 LITTLE RED BOOKS OUT OF 5
Sort of disappointing but I’m looking forward to next week’s episode (i.e. yesterday’s). I’m a little late but I’ll get to it.
MOMENT OF ZEN
